What is Spun?
Spun is a communication platform that allows users to send, receive, and manage all of their business's customer conversations from a single shared inbox.
A team uses Spun - in a web browser, or in the Spun app for iPhone and Android - to read and reply to customer messages, chat with each other, share files and voice notes, place voice and video calls, translate conversations, set reminders, apply labels, and send scheduled or bulk messages. Spun adds AI assistance on top: drafting replies, summarizing long conversations, and transcribing voice messages.
Spun works as a standalone workspace, and a business can optionally connect additional messaging channels to it - such as its WhatsApp business number or an SMS line - so conversations from those channels flow into the same shared inbox.

These are the capabilities the Spun application provides to its users. The Google permissions described further down support only the last few of them, and connecting a Google account is optional for every one.
Shared team inbox
Manage every customer conversation from one workspace - on the web, iOS and Android. Chats, media, voice notes and group conversations all in one place, with built-in team chat alongside customer threads.
AI assistant & smart replies
AI drafts replies in your tone, summarizes long conversations, transcribes voice messages, suggests labels, and answers questions about your own chat history - so you respond in seconds, not minutes.
Team collaboration
Unlimited team members share the inbox with roles and permissions. Assign chats and tasks, leave internal notes, track follow-ups, and see who is handling what in real time.
Live translation
Two-way automatic translation for text and voice: chat with customers in their language while you read and write in yours, including live translated voice conversations.
Reminders (alarms) & follow-ups
Attach reminders to any chat or label - one-time or recurring - so no follow-up is forgotten. Snooze, reassign, and (optionally) mirror them into your Google Calendar.
Campaigns & automation

How Spun uses your Google Account
Connecting Google is optional. If you choose to connect it (Settings → Google Calendar & Meet, or Settings → File Sync), Spun requests only these permissions:
Google Meet links & reminder sync
Google Calendar (calendar.events)
When you click the Video button in a chat, Spun creates a calendar event with a Google Meet link so you can send it to your contact. If you turn on reminder sync, every alarm you create in Spun is mirrored into your Google Calendar as an event with a popup notification at ring time - snoozing or rescheduling the alarm moves the event, and deleting the alarm removes it, so your calendar always reflects your current reminders. Spun only creates and manages events you explicitly ask for through these features - it does not read or modify the rest of your calendar.
File sync you initiate
Google Drive (drive.file)
Lets you save chat files and exports to your own Google Drive. The drive.file permission only grants Spun access to files you create or open with Spun - it cannot see anything else in your Drive.
Identifying your connection
Email address (userinfo.email)
Used solely to show you which Google account is connected in Settings.
Our commitments for Google user data
- Spun's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We never sell Google user data, and never use it for advertising.
- Google access tokens are stored encrypted and used only to provide the features above.
- You can disconnect at any time in Spun's Settings, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting deletes the stored tokens.
